10 years with love, 
theCOMMONS

     The months leading up to our 10th birthday have indeed been a period of reflection. It feels like time is playing a trick on me - countless beautiful memories, all within just a blink of an eye.

    More than a decade ago, we had a dream of building a wholesome community. For us, wholesome means eating well, taking care of yourself, spending time with the ones you love, staying curious, and being kind to others and the environment. We wanted to make leading a wholesome life as easy as possible for our community.

    Now to community - back then, the word felt less mainstream, and the idea far from what it is today. But community was what I longed for after moving back to Thailand and it's what we set out to build. I've learned throughout the years that building a community is no easy feat. It takes a LOT of hard work, and that work is literally never done! But community building is also such a privilege and has provided me with a sense of purpose and so much joy.

    When you successfully create reasons that bring people together, when you play a role in supporting others and fostering lasting connections, when you curate a space that makes people feel like they belong - well, then it's no longer work, just pure magic.

    And this magic couldn't have happened without all the people around me. As we approach this milestone, my heart is full and overflowing with gratitude. First, I'd like to thank my family who have been my inspiration, my source of strength and solace. To my team who have become like family - so grateful for your passion and for tackling each day with purpose. To our tenants, partners and investors who have become the dearest of friends, thank you for believing in us and for creating this magic together. Finally, to each and everyone of our customers, thank you for showing up, for coming back, for being our reason, and for being the very fabric of our community.

    The other day, I was having lunch with one of our partners who has become a dear friend, when the topic of what to do in retirement came up. After a short moment of contemplation, I realized how lucky I am as I would want to be doing exactly what I'm doing now. The intention to build wholesome communities hasn't changed over the past ten years, and I believe it will remain at my core for the next ten and beyond.

    Looking forward, the first thing in the pipeline is our 3rd home, theCOMMONS at Cloud11 opening this year. We are so excited to join the vibrant South Sukhumvit neighborhood and hope that we can become a wholesome backyard for the community there.

   And as I look further into the next decade, I truly hope that we can extend the intention of building wholesome communities into new arenas and touchpoints beyond the physical space or definition of what theCOMMONS is today. At its heart, theCOMMONS has always been about PEOPLE - about connections and shared values. Perhaps, that purpose can take new forms and serve more communities across different stages of life, interests and places.

    In a time when the world feels increasingly divided and self-interest often comes before community, I hope we can continue to be a reminder of what's possible when we live with compassion and make space for others to feel at home. Please stay tuned and keep our community close!
